Regulations

The Rules & Regulations have been rewritten, please read them very carefully. The material specifications, program rights issues and the deadlines are clearly outlined in this document.

Please, mind the novelties in the Rules that are marked NEW!

Art. 1. GOAL

1.1. The traditional International Festival for Print Media will be held from 4th – 8th June, 2008 at the Black Sea Albena resort in Bulgaria.

1.2. The goal of the Festival is to select and reward innovative trends in publishing activities all over the world and in Bulgaria and to encourage the creation of original works for publication. Important! The competition assesses the professional realisation of the edition, and harmony between purpose, target, content and commercial politic and strategy. The Jury will appraise the layout, organization of the content, graphic design and innovativeness of the editions.The most successful debut for the past year will be assessed! In the Festival for Print Media this year an award will also be made for the successful transformation and positive change of long term existing print media.

Art. 2. CATEGORIES

2.1. Each publishing house or organization may submit entries in the following categories:

Section NEWSPAPERS

Section MAGAZINES

Section SPECIALIZED PRINT EDITIONS

2.2. Each publishing house or organization may participate in one category with maximum one entry.

2.3. NEW! Each applicant admitted to the competition program should make a presentation of the competition entry of not more than six minutes' duration to the Festival Jury and audience (video material in AVI format/ slide show/moderator to present the media)

Art. 3. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND RULES

3.1. All the publishing houses, editorial offices of newspapers and magazines may participate in the Festival by sending up to 1 publication (in two copies).

3.2. The deadline for receiving the entry forms and the publications for the contest is 16th May, 2008.

3.3. The forms should contain up to 5 lines annotation in English.

3.4. The participants should send the following additional materials:

3.5. Advertising materials about the programs may also be sent to support the application.

3.6. Materials sent to enter the competition program will be returned to sender only at its express request, specified in the entry forms, and to its account.

3.7. All participating publications will be exhibited for public discussion.

Art. 4. FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

4.1. For participation in the selection of the Festival each applicant should pay a fee of 78 Euro (or its equivalent in BGN) for each individual publication.

4.2. Costs of sending materials to Sofia to MEDIAMIXX address and return cost will be at the expense of the sender.

4.3. It is mandatory to note on the postal consignment that the value of the contents is less than 50 USD. The package should be marked with sticker "NO COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY".

4.4. Entry fees should be paid not later than 16th May, 2008.

4.5. Entries in respect of which no entry fee is paid within the term specified in 4.4. will be withdrawn from selection and competition.

4.6. Entry fee in respect of publications withdrawn from selection is not refundable.

4.7. Bank transfers will be made to the Mediamixx Group Ltd. account specified in the payment form.

4.8. All bank charges will be for the sender's account.

Art. 5. SELECTION COMMITTEE

5.1. The working language of the Festival is English.

5.2. The issues announced for the contest should have been published for the first time after 30th May, 2007.

5.3. The participating publications will be examined by а Selection Committee of professionals, publishers and graphic artists, in the presence of the Director of the Festival in order to establish whether they comply with the stated categories and requirements of the Rules.

5.4. The Selection Committee will sit from 17th to 21st May, 2008.

5.5. The Selection Committee may relocate entries into other categories if they do not comply with the requirements set forth in the Rules.

5.6. If less than 3 entries are registered in any one category the Selection Committee has the right to move them to other appropriate categories and has the obligation to inform the participant about this change.

5.7. This Committee will define the program of the Festival.

5.8. In case the entry does not comply with the requirements, the Selection Committee or its authorized technical associate will notify entrants of its decision, which may not be appealed, by 24th May, 2008.

Art. 6. JURY

6.1. The publications presented for the contest will be evaluated by a 5-member International Jury composed of professionals from the Print Media Industry.

6.2. The Jury members will judge by the following rules and criteria:

NEW! Every entry in the competition can receive a total of up to 500 points (up to 100 points by each Jury member) divided as follows: up to 20 points for Marketing (Mission, USP), up to 20 points for Competitive advantages and positioning, up to 20 points for graphical execution and polygraph, up to 20 points for innovativeness and up to 20 points for Communication policy (Auto-promotion, PR projects).

6.3. The protocols and number of points awarded to each program will be kept and audited by an auditor company presented at the beginning of the Festival.

Art. 7. AWARDS

7.1. The following prizes will be awarded at the Festival:

7.2. Personal appearance of winners or representatives of theirs at the time of the Gala Prize-giving Ceremony is especially important to the protocol of the Event. (NB!)

Art. 8. GENERAL CONDITIONS

8.1. The correct and accurate completion of the forms is a compulsory condition of entry

8.2. Entry forms must be completed directly on www.mediamixx.info not later than 16th May, 2008.

8.3. Entrants will at the time of completing the entry form declare their consent for using all the materials (covers, presentations) for informational publicity. The Festival will also have the right to use any materials in relation to Mediamixx'08 brand (events, advertisements, release of parts in radio programs, documentation, Internet, etc.) free of charge and without any possible future claims by third parties

8.4. These Rules are available in Bulgarian and English but if any disputes arise the English version will prevail. English is also the working language of the Festival.

8.5. By filling out and signing the entry form the participant agrees to full acceptance of the conditions set forth in these Rules.
